Warning: SPOILERS for Marvel Comics Presents #7
The family portrait for Logan (James Howlett, Wolverine, etc) just got a little bit more complicated, with the reveal of Rien, in the latest issue of Marvel Comics Presents, a collection of untold stories starring some of Marvel's fan-favorite heroes. Disputing parentage may be difficult with her displaying daddy’s attitude and some physical attributes.
Marvel fans will be quick to point out that unexpected children of Logan is nothing new. And yeah, there is Logan's son Daken, and recent revelation that Laura Kinney a.k.a. X-23 is a child/clone or clone/child. However Rien isn't any test, experiment, or cloning breakthrough. She came about the old skool way, Barry White playing while mom and dad met on a bear skin rug (ok that part I made up). Rien was born for a purpose like her designed and crafted siblings: protect the world from a threat nobody but Logan knows is coming. And together, Wolverine and his daughter are going to save the planet.
So how did this happen? Who is the mother? Well… Logan and the daughter of a sorceress named Sylvie have been fighting a demon together every decade since World War 2. Sylvie sadly passed in the 70’s but the decade before, the Barry White moment (more like The Temptations) happened and Sylvie was knocked up by Ol’ Canucklehead. Fast forward 30 years and Logan sees a grown, unkillable, magic clawed (yeah claws made of magic) woman stop the demon. Using all of his mental faculties Wolverine surmises “I think she’s my daughter”.
